Marygrove College Campus
The American Cancer Society’s (ACS) annual Relay For Life Detroit will be held for the eighth year on the beautiful grounds of Marygrove College. Relay For Life is a walking event organized to celebrate cancer survivorship and life, as well as bring our community together to learn more about cancer while raising money to help find a cure.
Relay For Life takes place over a 24-hour period. Interested participants put together teams of 10 or more people and each team is responsible for raising funds before the event. The teams will camp out for 24 hours at the Relay location and members of each team take turns walking, running, or jogging around the track. Entertainment and special activities will be provided throughout the 24 hours.
The American Cancer Society is looking for men and women between the ages of 30-65, who have never been diagnosed with cancer, who are willing to enroll in a study of their lifestyle habits. Participants at this year’s Relay For Life will have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to fight back by enrolling in the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Prevention Study-3. Individuals may choose to participate in they are willing to make a long-term commitment to the study (which involves completing follow-up surveys periodically over the next 20 years), are between the ages of 30 and 65 years old and have never been diagnosed with cancer. The enrollment will take place on June 19, between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the Marygrove College campus during the Relay.
